Our Story

Hello there, we are on a mission to bring Grandma's values of thoughtfulness and sustainability back into the contemporary wardrobe.

Let’s face it- we grew tired keeping up with fast fashion trends.  This often meant buying cheap low quality clothing and throwing them out frequently, which was harmful to the environment. In contrast, Grandma always looked amazing in the same clothes over and over again. (P.s. we call her fashion sense permanently out of season but always in style) There was something strangely timeless and endearing about the styles of the older generations which could not be found in the endless racks of cheap mass produced clothing in stores today.

 Our solution?

We make Samfu, the nostalgic silhouette from Grandma.

Growing up, Grandma could rarely afford to purchase new fabric to make new clothes. Since fabric was so precious, it was only practical to create the most functional and versatile style out of the fabric. Preferably, the cut would also be elegant and airy for the summer heat but not too revealing. And voila, The Samfu (pronounced Some-foo) became the perfect go-to silhouette!

This matching shirt and pant suit was so comfortable and flattering for all ages that girls wore them everywhere, from grocery shopping to going on a dinner date.

For this reason we believe that the Samfu still has a place in every girl's wardrobe today. With a hint of a little nostalgia, our timeless designs take you effortlessly from day to night and stick around in your wardrobe for a long time.

Like Grandma, we embrace sustainable practices

Our grandmothers knew sustainability better than us. They favoured quality over quantity, consumed slowly, and cherished every piece of clothing.

Today, nearly three-fifths or 60% of all clothing produced ends up in incinerators or landfills within a year of being made. (McKinsey 2016). That's why we decided to be part of the solution, not the problem. We source within Asia only quality deadstock fabrics. These are leftover fabrics from brands which mostly get sent to the landfills. As each fabric is limited, the fabric may never be found again when it is gone. Therefore we design and produce only in small quantities, making every piece special.
