Our Fabrics

We want your clothes to last as long as our designs are timeless. Here is a little care guide on how to give your clothes the love they deserve. Remember to always follow the care instructions for each garment.

In general, hand washing is more kind to garments than machine washing. Wash your garments inside out and with similar colors to keep the prints and colors looking sharp and vibrant.

Cotton is our go-to natural fiber that is so breathable, crisp and smooth, and easy to maintain. Whenever we can, we opt for organic cotton certified by GOTS, which is grown without pesticides or fertilizers. For best care, machine wash in cold water or at a maximum of 30 degrees.

Linen is a natural fiber made from the flax plant. We love linen for its breathability and durability. What’s even better - its production requires minimal water and pesticides compared to other crops. We source linen that is softer and more comfortable for the skin.

We curate quality fabrics that are left behind in the supply chain by larger manufacturers. This avoids production of new material, saving precious resources like water. However, we are mindful that deadstock is hard to trace - meaning that sometimes, we cannot be 100% sure of the fiber composition and origins. That being said, we believe that because our production is on a very small scale commercially in the fashion industry - using deadstock still leaves a much smaller footprint than overproduction using claimed sustainable sources. Deadstock fabrics might be made of any of the fibers below or made from other fibers, hence do follow the specific care instructions on your garment’s product page.

To keep your Samfu looking fresh for years to come, just give it a little TLC. Skip the bleach, wringing, and tumble drying. We recommend that you hand wash your clothing in room temperature water or use a hand wash or delicate setting on the washing machine. Remove immediately from the machine and air dry!
